23/04/2020 | People of RosscarberyToday’s “People of Ross” feature is Rosscarbery Smugglers Cove Adventures Golf and Geoff Wycherley. Smugglers Cove is the ultimate family day out and underpins Rosscarbery as the prime family destination on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way! 💚🇮🇪
Wait for this kids (and big kids) Smugglers Cove is a Golf Range, adventure golf course, smugglers wooden maze, the Corks RedFM 104-106 Maize 🌾 Maze and will soon be joined by a Summer Tubing Park that is in the process of being built 🤩 Wow!! The driving range has the best view of any driving range in Ireland, the adventure golf is out of this world 🗺 and both Maze unfortunately seem to be more of a challenge for adults than kids🤣🤣 Many a time a little assistance has been needed to help people out!! Take note kids if your folks are driving you 😠 Outrageous Fun 😀
After all that energy is used up, the cafe serves homemade family favourites like burgers 🍔, pizza 🍕, toasted sandwiches 🥪 & Chicken 🍗 goujons not to mention beautiful Clonakilty Ice Cream 🍨 🍦
To Geoff himself, Ross through and through, and backed up by his wonderful parents Geoffrey & Mary and his wife Áine, who has to suppress all of those wildly ambitious ideas💡Geoff has😉 Geoffrey and Mary are such wonderful people, so fondly thought of in West Cork and so supportive of all the good that is created in Ross. Geoffrey is a handy golfer, hence the driving range and was President of Skibbereen Golf Club in 2019, and the Celtic Ross Hotels brand ambassador👍🙏
Another big thinker, Geoff is involved with Paul in the Lagoon Water Park too, he is treasurer of the Rosscarbery Community Council, on the committee for the Surf Turf & Tar race and organises the Red Strand to Warren Strand “Galley Head Swim”!!
You could spend hours over a pint or coffee with Geoff strategising how Rosscarbery will take over the world 🌎 In these times we need these dynamic minds to drive us on!🙌
Geoff was one of our “People of the Wild Atlantic Way” by Shay Hunston so we’ll leave you with this thought from him;
“My favourite memory from childhood was the long Summer days cycling to the ‘Warren’ with our clubs across the handle bars to go playing pitch & putt, swimming and fooling around on the dunes with my friends. Is it just me or were the Summer days sunnier and longer when I was younger”. How we yearn for those summer days now more than ever and here’s hoping this one feels longer than any other.
